2025 Stable Studies Cohort
Lyons, Colorado
One Herd is excited to partner with Gray Mountain Ranch in Lyons, Colorado, as our host facility for Stable Studies in 2025. With the support of the Gray Mountain Ranch herd, we are proud to further our commitment to accessibility and expand the reach of Stable Studies across the country.
COHORT THEME: COMMUNICATION
Communication is the central theme for our 2025 Stable Studies Cohort, as it stands at the heart of all relationships—whether between humans, between humans and horses, or within teams. In its most powerful form, communication is not just about the exchange of information, but about creating genuine connections, fostering trust, and building understanding. In the context of equine-assisted learning, communication transcends verbal interaction; it encompasses nonverbal cues, emotional resonance, and active listening, all of which are integral components of the learning process.
In Stable Studies, we explore communication as a multidimensional theme that directly influences leadership, personal development, and team dynamics. By integrating the unique relationship between humans and horses, participants deepen their understanding of communication in practical, transformative ways. The horses’ natural sensitivity to human energy, body language, and emotional states offers real-time feedback, allowing participants to experience firsthand how their communication impacts relationships.

For those who prefer a more comfortable, indoor setting, the cozy accommodations in the ranch’s main house offer a warm and welcoming space, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The main house provides a comfortable retreat, perfect for relaxing after a day of learning and connection.
For those looking to fully immerse themselves in nature, there is the option to camp on the expansive grounds of Gray Mountain Ranch. Nestled among the serene beauty of the land, camping offers a chance to disconnect from the distractions of daily life and reconnect with the natural world.
Both options provide a unique experience tailored to personal preferences, making for a memorable and enriching time at Gray Mountain Ranch.

Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses and are encouraged to support one another by carpooling when possible, helping to reduce costs and create a sense of community.
For those traveling by air, the most convenient airport to fly into is Denver International Airport (DIA), located about an hour and a half from Lyons, Colorado. From there, participants can arrange for rental cars, carpooling, or shuttle services to make their way to Gray Mountain Ranch. We encourage those flying in to connect with fellow participants to coordinate travel, making the journey to the ranch easier and more enjoyable.

Gray Mountain Ranch has generously supported One Herd by donating their beautiful facility for our 2025 Stable Studies Cohort. Stable Studies is designed to advance the equine-assisted learning and coaching industry while fostering a stronger community, and is intended to remain affordable to all. For this particular cohort, we ask for a $50 participation fee to help cover the costs of the program and ensure its sustainability.
While the program aims to keep costs low, recurring donations are also vital to supporting the continued growth and reach of this important work. We encourage participants to consider contributing beyond the fee to help keep these valuable opportunities accessible to all who can benefit from them. Your support plays a crucial role in ensuring the long-term impact of this program.
